Armenia is set to host a significant sports event, the #EuroVolleyU16M Final Round, in just a week. To mark this occasion, an introductory event took place on Northern Avenue. Key attendees included Hasmik Avagyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports; Karen Asmaryan, Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Armenia; members of the Armenian U16 national team; coaches; and enthusiastic sports fans.
During the event, Deputy Minister Hasmik Avagyan extended a warm welcome and congratulations, highlighting the federation`s recent efforts and the team`s visible progress. Avagyan expressed her best wishes to the Armenian team. She also underscored Armenia`s strategic approach to hosting international tournaments, viewing it as a crucial step to boost the nation`s profile in the global sports arena.
Karen Asmaryan, Secretary General of the VFA, also addressed the gathering. He celebrated the upcoming, unprecedented Volleyball event in Armenia and revealed that the VFA has dedicated nearly three years to its meticulous preparation. Asmaryan praised the coaches for their vital role in the team`s achievements and extended gratitude to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, Sports, and the Yerevan Municipality for their indispensable support. He voiced optimism for the Armenian team`s future success and encouraged a strong turnout of fans to cheer for the U16 national team during the championship matches.
The #EuroVolleyU16M Final Round is scheduled from July 23 to August 3. Armenia will compete against 15 other national teams. The teams are divided into two pools:
- Pool I: Armenia, Austria, Greece, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, and Spain.
- Pool II: Bulgaria, Czechia, France, Hungary, Italy, Serbia, Türkiye, and Ukraine.
In total, 60 matches will take place across two venues in the capital: the Gazprom Armenia Sports Complex and the Russian-Armenian University gymnasium.
