Sports Park Ludus buzzed with excitement last Sunday, hosting not only exhilarating beach volleyball club championships but also a parallel ParaVolley Europe event, highlighting the sport`s inclusive nature. The highlight of the day was the dominant performance by local club BVC Ludus Ljubljana, successfully defending both their men`s and women`s national titles.
BVC Ludus secured yet another title in the women`s competition.
Women`s Competition: Experience Meets Youth
In the women`s division, BVC Ludus demonstrated a powerful mix of veteran skill and rising talent. Tjasa Kotnik and Helena Mijoc, who had previously formed a surprisingly effective partnership in the MEVZA Club Championship, led the team. They were ably supported by the promising U22 national team duo, Zoja Kalar and Neza Bednjanic. OK Lubnik`s young team, featuring U20 and U18 national team members Anja Potocnik and Neja Ferdin, secured the silver, while VC Portoroz took third.
Their depth in quality proved decisive for BVC Ludus in the men`s competition.
Men`s Competition: Strategic Depth and Star Power
The men`s competition underscored BVC Ludus`s strategic depth. Their lineup included a formidable pair: recent national champion David Renko alongside the legendary Danijel Pokersnik, a ten-time national champion. Their second strong team was anchored by national championships bronze medalist Jaka Jevsnik, supported by Maks Sluga, Yan Pigarev, and Nejc Zemljak. This combined strength was crucial in their victory over the promising young team from Klub Moderne Odbojke, represented by Miha Kosanc and Benjamin Mugerli, who recently competed in the U22 European Championships. OK Lubnik claimed third. These double victories on their home turf cement BVC Ludus`s status as a premier force in Slovenian club Beach Volleyball and provide momentum for their participation in the upcoming CEV Beach Volley European Cup 2025, marking a truly successful day.
