CEV President Roko Sikirić visited Latvia as part of his extensive European tour to engage with the volleyball community and promote the sport at the highest levels. His trip included a productive meeting with Latvia`s Prime Minister, Evika Silina.

During their discussion, both parties underscored the truly unique and essential role that sport can play in a fragmented and polarized world. President Sikirić highlighted sport`s capacity to unite, inspire, build bridges, and foster a sense of community, while also promoting healthy lifestyles, which is particularly vital for younger generations. In a time of global uncertainty and division, sport offers much-needed stability and positive energy.

In his meeting with the Prime Minister, Mr. Sikirić acknowledged the remarkable success achieved by Latvian athletes, especially in Beach Volleyball, while noting the consistent development of indoor volleyball. He also highlighted the 2028 edition of the CEV EuroVolley Men`s championship as an opportunity to further elevate the sport`s profile in Latvia, given the Latvian Volleyball Federation`s interest in co-organizing the event.
The CEV President expressed his gratitude to the Latvian government for its strong support of sport within the country. He recognized Latvia`s significant contribution to the ongoing growth of European Volleyball through its elite athletes, many promising young talents, and highly qualified officials and leaders.
