CEV President Roko Sikirić recently visited Latvia as part of his ongoing efforts to engage with the Volleyball community across Europe and advance the sport at the highest levels. His trip included a highly productive meeting with Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina.

During their discussion, both leaders underscored the unique and vital role sport plays in an increasingly fragmented and polarized global landscape. President Sikirić highlighted sport`s immense capacity to unite people, inspire progress, build bridges between communities, and promote a healthy lifestyle, which is particularly crucial for younger generations. In these times of global uncertainty and division, sport stands as a beacon of stability and positive energy.

President Sikirić also commended Latvia`s exceptional achievements, particularly in Beach Volleyball, and noted the consistent development of its indoor game. A significant opportunity for further growth lies in Latvia`s expressed interest in co-hosting the 2028 CEV EuroVolley Men, which would undoubtedly elevate the sport`s profile within the nation.
The CEV President extended his gratitude to the Latvian government for its unwavering support for sports. He recognized Latvia`s pivotal contribution to the expansion of European Volleyball, attributing it to their top-tier athletes, promising youth talent, and highly skilled officials and leaders.
