After two weeks, none of the 18 participating squads boast a perfect record. Brazil (7-1) currently leads the standings, ahead of Poland (6-2) and Italy (6-2).
In Burgas, Bulgaria, France demonstrated exceptional performance, concluding the week with three straight-set victories and only one hard-fought five-set loss to Japan. The reigning Olympic champions are still actively contending for a playoff berth, holding a 5-3 record after eight matches.
The tournament hosts, the Bulgarian national team, delighted local fans with impressive wins over Japan and Slovenia. However, inconsistency hindered their week, as they faltered against Turkey and Ukraine, pushing them back in their pursuit of a playoff spot. Their current record stands at 4 wins and 4 losses.
Meanwhile, in Chicago, the competition was equally fierce. Italy and Brazil emerged as the primary contenders in this pool. Italy began their week with a dramatic five-set triumph over Poland and concluded by sweeping the hosts, USA. Nevertheless, the Italians were pushed to their limits in a five-set defeat against Brazil, in a match where the South American team gained control and surpassed Italy in the rankings.
Brazil, for their part, enjoyed a flawless week, securing victories against Canada and China in their opening matches, along with a thrilling 3:1 win over Poland in their final game. This performance ensured them a superior record compared to their two main rivals for the top spot – Italy and Poland.
The reigning European champions, Poland, suffered their first two defeats: 2:3 against Italy and 1:3 against Brazil. These were their key rivals before the knockout stage in Łódź, where they aim to achieve a stronger finish. In Belgrade, Serbia, the hosts experienced losses against Iran, Cuba, Argentina, and Germany. The Netherlands also incurred four defeats, significantly diminishing their chances of advancing to the next round.
The final week of the 2025 FIVB Men`s Volleyball Nations League pool phase will take place in Gdańsk, Poland; Ljubljana, Slovenia; and Chiba, Japan. Seven playoff spots are still available, with Poland having already secured their qualification for the knockout phase in Łódź.
