Malå, a quaint inland village located approximately 800 km north of Sweden`s capital, Stockholm, is once again gearing up to host the highly anticipated COOP SnowVolley Cup. As the days grow longer and the crisp winter air becomes more inviting, the Tjamstan alpine resort will transform into a vibrant arena for this thrilling Snow Volleyball tournament. Building upon the success of last year`s event, Malå IF is poised to deliver an even more impressive experience, featuring four meticulously prepared courts and an enhanced, spectator-friendly venue.

This year, the tournament boasts an expanded format with three distinct categories: mixed, senior/corporate/youth, and mixed snow-level. An estimated 20 teams from across northern Sweden are expected to converge, ready to showcase their skills. The rules have been thoughtfully adapted to suit the tournament`s unique structure, including a special youth snow-level event for children aged 10-12. This particular category draws inspiration from the Swedish Volleyball Federation`s innovative seven-level game system, allowing young players to catch and throw the second touch within their team`s required three touches, fostering engagement and skill development.

The initial vision for organizing a Snow Volleyball tournament in Malå emerged over four years ago. Despite widespread enthusiasm from local players and community leaders, the plans faced an unfortunate pause due to the global coronavirus pandemic. However, the dream was revitalized last year under the dedicated leadership of Johan Grensell. The event now thrives thanks to robust support from local sponsors, the community, the Swedish Volleyball Federation, various Sports federations, and the CEV. Malå IF meticulously organizes this tournament not only to elevate the sport but also to generate funding for children`s and youth activities, breathing life into the local community. The COOP SnowVolley Cup 2024 is a true community effort, hosted by dedicated volunteers from Malå IF in collaboration with COOP Malå and the Tjamstan alpine resort.

The primary ambition for this year`s event is to significantly surpass the achievements of its successful 2023 premiere and to lay a strong foundation for the continued growth and development of the club in the years ahead.
