Dutch teams emerged as the strongest competitors at the recent Beach Volleyball tournament organized by the Western European Volleyball Zonal Association (WEVZA) in Rimini, a popular seaside resort on Italy’s Adriatic coast.
Leanne van Vegten and Jill de Groot from the Netherlands secured the gold medal by defeating their compatriots Marly Bak and Bjorna Gras 2-0 (21-14, 21-16) in the final match. In the bronze medal match, featuring two Italian pairs, Anna Piccoli and Martina Foresti claimed third place after a challenging 2-1 victory (21-14, 23-21, 18-16) over Luna Cicola and Andrea Maria Nucete.
The WEVZA zonal event was organized by PowerBeach in partnership with B-Side Management, with the support of the Municipality of Rimini. Major sponsors for the event included VAR GROUP, IMA, Subaru, and Macron.
The highest finishing team from the local organizers, PowerBeach, was Valeria Tallevi Diotallevi and Giada Godenzoni. They finished the competition in fifth place, having been eliminated in the quarter-finals by Cicola and Nucete with a score of 1-2 (21-13, 15-21, 16-18).
