The semi-final stage of the World Championship in Thailand has concluded, setting the stage for an all-European final. Türkiye and Italy will compete for the coveted gold medal, while Japan and Brazil are set to battle for the bronze.

Semi-final 1: Türkiye Dominates Japan

Türkiye 3 – Japan 1 (25-16, 17-25, 18-25, 25-27)

Türkiye secured its first-ever World Championship medal by defeating Japan in a hard-fought four-set match. After dropping the opening set, the Turkish squad, led by coach Daniele Santarelli, asserted their dominance in the second and third sets. The fourth set proved to be a nail-biter, with Türkiye ultimately closing it out at 27-25, wisely avoiding a decisive fifth set to conserve energy for the final.

Melissa Vargas was instrumental in Türkiye`s victory, delivering a phenomenal performance with 28 points (26 attacks, 1 block, 1 ace), cementing her status as the championship`s leading attacker. Captain Eda Erdem and Ebrar Karakurt also made significant contributions, each adding 13 points to their team`s tally.
