The 2025 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League enters its pivotal second week, intensifying the competition for a coveted spot in the final round. Elite volleyball action is set to unfold across three key global venues: Istanbul (Turkey), Hong Kong, and Belgrade (Serbia). The world`s top national teams will continue to test their prowess in what promises to be an exceptionally competitive tournament.

So far, only Italy, Japan, and Türkiye maintain an unblemished record after four matches, aiming to solidify their positions and secure early qualification for the finals. Meanwhile, other European squads are determined to recover from challenging defeats experienced in the opening week.

Poland, already assured a place in the final round as the host nation, has registered one loss and is preparing to face formidable opponents: the Netherlands, USA, Germany, and Serbia. Italy, on the other hand, hopes to extend its flawless run against Bulgaria, Thailand, Japan, and the People’s Republic of China.

A highlight for Italy, featuring star player Paola Egonu, will be their clash against Japan. Both teams boast perfect records, though Italy has conceded two sets and one point, while the Japanese team remains undefeated without dropping a single set.

Germany (2-2), the Netherlands (2-2), Bulgaria (2-2), and Czechia (2-2) experienced mixed outcomes in their initial matches. They will need to elevate their performance significantly this week to secure a final round berth. Türkiye, despite losing five sets already, will benefit from playing on their home court in Istanbul. Daniele Santarelli’s team seeks crucial victories against the Dominican Republic, Canada, South Korea, and particularly Brazil, aiming for a stronger finish.

The highly anticipated match against Brazil, led by the renowned Gabi Guimaraes, promises to be an emotional encounter. Guimaraes makes her return to Istanbul, a city she called home for five years while playing for VakifBank from 2019 to 2024.

France (1-3), Belgium (1-3), and Serbia (0-4) face immense pressure to deliver improved results this week if they aspire to reach the final round. Serbia, especially, will feel the weight of expectation playing on their home court in Belgrade.

As global volleyball stars and promising new talents grace the courts, Week 2 of the Nations League is poised to deliver another round of top-tier volleyball, featuring thrilling comebacks and moments of sheer brilliance. The world`s best teams continue their journey towards the grand finale in Łódź, Poland.
