Northampton Saints` fly-half, Fin Smith, is on the cusp of signing a landmark contract that will cement his position as the highest-paid player in the club`s history. The proposed deal is reported to guarantee him an annual salary of £600,000, which would also place him among the top four highest-earning rugby players ever in the English Premiership.
Under the terms of this new agreement, Smith`s earnings are set to exceed those of prominent league stars such as Owen Farrell of Saracens, who currently earns £550,000. In the Premiership, only a select few players command higher remunerations: Steven Luatua of Bristol (£620,000), Maro Itoje of Saracens (£750,000), and Finn Russell of Bath, who leads with a staggering £1,000,000.
Beyond Smith`s groundbreaking deal, the Saints are also actively working to secure the future of several other key talents. The club is reportedly close to finalizing contract extensions with George Furbank, Fraser Dingwall, Tommy Freeman, Alex Mitchell, and Alex Coles, ensuring the stability and strength of their squad.
