The recent Beach Pro Tour Futures event in Montpellier saw impressive performances from teams representing France, Spain, and Austria. These European nations collectively secured five out of six possible medals at the renowned Montpellier Beach Volley Club, Parc de La Rauze, over the weekend.
With a tally of two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal, European duos showcased their dominance once again in the region`s Futures events.
Home crowd favorites, top-seeded Elouan Chouikh-Barbez and Joadel Gardoque, delighted French fans by winning the men`s gold medal. They triumphed over Austrian Olympians Robin Seidl and Alexander Huber in a hard-fought three-set match (16-21, 22-20, 15-12).
Beach Pro Tour Montpellier Futures – Men
The men`s podium, entirely composed of European teams, saw Spanish duo Álvaro Viera and Antonio Saucedo claim bronze. They secured their medal by defeating Austrians Felix Friedl and Florian Schnetzer in straight sets (21-16, 21-13).
Spanish Win Gold Among the Women
In the women`s final, Spanish pair Sofía Izuzquiza and Sofía González clinched gold, marking their first title together. They overcame French hopefuls Elsa Descamps and Anouk Dupin in an intense three-set battle (21-17, 14-21, 15-9). This victory follows their bronze medal win in Kraków just last month.
Beach Pro Tour Montpellier Futures – Women
The women`s bronze medal went to American qualifiers Alexis Durish and Audrey Koenig, who bested Czech pair Martina Maixnerova and Kylie Neuschaeferova in straight sets (21-16, 21-14).
The next European Beach Pro Tour Futures event is scheduled for July 18-21 in Leuven, Belgium.
These Futures events, organized by the CEV in partnership with Volleyball World, offer European teams crucial opportunities to compete and earn significant international ranking points.
