The Czech Volleyball Federation recently held a national beach volleyball club championship, which also served as a qualifier for the 2025 CEV Beach Volley European Cup. This competition employed a novel format that integrated past years` results to seed clubs for different stages.
Clubs engaged in a round-robin phase, competing in best-of-five matches that included men`s, women`s, and mixed-gender teams. Successful teams from the pool stage advanced to the semi-finals, culminating in gold and bronze medal matches.
The semi-final pairings saw BVŠP A face BC Strahov, a rematch from the previous year, and BK Pankrác compete against BK Ládví. Notably, three of the semi-final and medal matches were decided by decisive mixed-gender team duels.
In the bronze medal game, BK Ládví secured victory over BC Strahov, with their women`s teams earning two crucial wins and the men`s duo Hladík/Jachnicki clinching the third and decisive point. BC Strahov finished fourth. The final championship match also went down to a mixed-gender team showdown, where Honzovičová and Mikulenka of Beachclub Prague Sports Club triumphed over the previously unbeaten pair Lorenzová and Semerád. This meant Beachclub Prague Pankrác claimed the title, leaving Beach Volleyball School Prague A (BVŠP A) as runners-up.
The Czech Volleyball Federation`s criteria for European Cup 2025 qualification prioritized total wins across all gender categories from the weekend`s matches. Beachclub Prague Pankrác`s women`s teams achieved an undefeated record, securing their direct entry. Although Beachclub Strahov excelled in men`s matches, they had already qualified by winning the MEVZA zonal event. Consequently, BK Ládví earned the second men`s preliminary phase spot for the CEV Beach Volley European Cup.
The organizers expressed gratitude to ČEZ GROUP, the main partner of Czech Beach Volleyball, for their support of the ČEZ Czech Club Championships 2025. They also commended the referees, fans, spectators, and especially the players for their exceptional performances and competitive spirit.
