Leuven, Belgium, recently hosted a highly successful Beach Pro Tour Futures event, further solidifying the city`s reputation as a growing hub for high-level Beach Volleyball competitions. This marks several consecutive years that Leuven has successfully delivered an event of this caliber. The Organizing Committee was honored by the City of Louvain, receiving a special award in the form of a commemorative stone laid on Monseigneur Paulin Ladeuze Square, recognizing their consistent contributions to the sport.

Beyond the competitive aspect, the event provided an invaluable educational opportunity for Belgium`s aspiring Beach Volleyball referees. They had the chance to learn from seasoned international officials like Fabio Ancora and Christos Kouvelos. Arturo Di Giacomo, President of the European Refereeing Commission (ERC), also attended, underscoring the ERC`s commitment to nurturing young referee talent. This initiative aims to enhance the overall quality and consistency of Volleyball and Beach Volleyball officiating across Europe.
The double-gender Leuven Futures proved to be a resounding success on all fronts. Spectator attendance was high, and Belgian home teams delivered stellar performances, securing an impressive three medals, including a gold in the men`s competition. Given this overwhelmingly positive outcome, it is anticipated that the City of Leuven will not only continue its support for future Beach Volleyball initiatives but may even expand it, further cementing the city`s prominent position on the European sports map.
