Valentina Bifflin, President of the Middle European Volleyball Zonal Association (MEVZA), and Frane Zanic, MEVZA Director and President of the Croatian Volleyball Federation, recently visited Cyprus as official guests of the Cyprus Volleyball Federation. Their visit served to underscore the robust partnership between MEVZA and the Cypriot volleyball body.

On Friday evening, the MEVZA dignitaries were present at the Men`s Super Cup Final, hosted at Afrodite Hall. The match saw defending national champions and cup holders Pafiakos PAFOS triumph 3-1 over Anorthosis FAMAGUSTA, the previous cup finalists. Following this thrilling contest, Mrs. Bifflin and Mr. Zanic participated in the award ceremony. This victory marked Pafiakos`s fifth Super Cup title since the competition began in 1992.

The following morning, both MEVZA officials spoke at the annual General Assembly of the Cyprus Volleyball Federation. Dr. Costas Constantinou, President of the National Federation, extended a warm welcome to the guests. Before the assembly commenced, a minute of silence was held in memory of Andreas Stavrou, an Honorary Board of Administration Member, former President of the Small Countries Division, and Honorary NF President, who had passed away earlier in the year. In their speeches, Mrs. Bifflin and Mr. Zanic underscored the vital role of Cyprus within the zonal association and lauded the significant advancements made by Cypriot volleyball over the past two years. Notably, this occasion marked the first time in the history of Cyprus Volleyball that foreign officials had addressed the General Assembly delegates.

In acknowledgment of their dedication and ongoing support, the President of the Cyprus Volleyball Federation presented the MEVZA representatives with commemorative plaques, which were miniature replicas of the Super Cup shields from the 2025 competition.

Later the same day, the MEVZA delegation also attended the Women`s Super Cup Final at Lefkotheo Hall in Nicosia. This match pitted national league and cup champions Olympiada Neapolis against national cup silver medalists Apollon LIMASSOL. Olympiada Neapolis emerged victorious, defeating Apollon in straight sets to claim their fourth consecutive title in the tournament. The MEVZA President and Director were again part of the awards presentation.
