The Volleyball Federation of Montenegro (OSCG) and the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Northern Region Development have entered into a memorandum of cooperation (MoU). This agreement is intended to support a program aimed at increasing public awareness about the environmental impact of plastic bags.

The MoU, signed by Minister Damjan Ćulafić and OSCG President Nikola Kažić, focuses on creating an effective, sustainable, and eco-friendly system for managing waste. Funding for the related awareness program comes from a special fee (€0.03 per bag) paid by retailers for plastic bags thicker than 50 microns, with the revenue going into the Environmental Protection Fund.
Minister Ćulafić commented that the signing reinforces the commitment to a sustainable waste system and raising public awareness about the dangers of plastic bags. He added that by working with local communities, sports bodies, businesses, and international partners, they are setting the stage for a more environmentally conscious future for Montenegro.

Under the memorandum, both parties will collaborate by sharing information, advice, and support for developing strategic plans, conducting studies and reports, carrying out projects, and holding regular meetings to exchange insights. Cooperation will also involve creating and running media campaigns, organizing educational events like seminars, debates, and conferences related to waste management.
The agreement also covers planning and executing joint projects and initiatives designed to strengthen efforts towards an efficient, sustainable, and environmentally responsible waste management system.
