Espinho`s Praia da Baía beach was the focus of Portuguese Beach Volleyball last weekend, hosting the second event of the National Tour. This competition served as a crucial warm-up for the Beach Volleyball Nations Cup Final, set to take place at the identical venue between July 17 and 20. The men`s title was claimed by three-time national champions João Pedrosa and Hugo Campos, while Daniela Loureiro and Vanessa Paquete emerged as unexpected victors in the women`s tournament.
In the men`s final, João Pedrosa and Hugo Campos showcased their favouritism and experience, securing a 2-0 victory (21-19, 21-18) over Francisco Pombeiro and Marcus Borlini after a tough contest. The bronze medal went to brothers Gonçalo and Tomás Sousa. Following their win at the initial stop, they continued their strong performance by beating Tomás Natário and Gustavo Reis 2-0 (21-17, 25-23), solidifying their top position in the national rankings.
For the women`s title, Daniela Loureiro and Vanessa Paquete delivered an upset, defeating three-time national champions Beatriz Pinheiro and Inês Castro in a thrilling three-set match (17-21, 21-16, 15-9). Earning the bronze medal for the second consecutive time were Mariana Maia and Gabriela Coelho, who overcame Matilde Moreira and Nydia Saavedra 2-0 (21-15, 21-15).

Staging the second National Tour stop at Praia da Baía provided an invaluable chance for teams to get ready for the impending Nations Cup Final.
