This Sunday, Krvavec will host the fourth Slovenian Snow Volleyball National Championship. This year, the tournament will set a new record for participation, with 24 teams – 12 in both men`s and women`s categories – competing for national titles on the snowy slopes of RTC Krvavec ski resort. The reigning women`s champions are Sara Valenčič, Teja Kolbl, and Anastazija Žnidar, while Tadej Boženk, Danijel Pokeršnik, and Denis Robida hold the men`s title.

The Slovenian Volleyball Federation (OZS) increased the number of participating teams from 16 to 24 due to exceptional interest and a large volume of registrations. Furthermore, four additional teams are on a waiting list, hoping for an opportunity to compete this Sunday should any registered participants withdraw.

The Krvavec tournament has attracted both current and former national team players, as well as athletes from Slovenia`s elite volleyball league. Notable participants include national team members Anja Mazej and Žana Ivana Halužan Sagadin, along with former national team players Lana Ščuka, Sara Valenčič, and Špela Marušič, all vying for top honors.

An exciting competition is also anticipated in the men`s category, where 12 teams will battle for the national title. Among them are the defending champions Tadej Boženk, Danijel Pokeršnik, and Denis Robida, who will be joined by Matej Rapnik this time.

I am truly delighted that so many teams have registered for the national championship. While it means a few more matches in the title pursuit, we will do everything in our power to defend our championship. I`ve reviewed the list of registered teams, and the competition is very strong. We cannot underestimate anyone. Even the young teams are improving. The sets are short, played to 15 points, so we need to stay focused from the first to the last point and perform at the highest possible level. I believe our team is in good form, and we will also rely on our experience from previous Snow Volleyball competitions. We have a few more training sessions on sand ahead of us, and then everything will begin.

The Slovenian Volleyball Federation eagerly anticipates the event at Krvavec.

Despite the spring temperatures, we hope for a successful execution of this year`s National Championship. RTC Krvavec once again offers us excellent conditions, allowing us to crown our national champions here for the third consecutive year. Although Snow Volleyball is a discipline without league competition and is a single-event tournament, the interest in both categories is immense. We are counting on favorable weather conditions and that spectators will enjoy the spectacular plays of the best Slovenian players.

The first matches are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m., with the finals set for 3:00 p.m.

The Slovenian National Snow Volleyball Championship will also feature a charitable initiative. Competitors, staff, and spectators, at the behest of the AED Association, will raise funds to purchase an automatic external defibrillator.
