Leeds and Borussia Mönchengladbach Finalize €10m Nico Elvedi Transfer, Awaiting One Obstacle

Borussia Mönchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi is reportedly close to a Premier League move after the Bundesliga club and Leeds United verbally agreed on a transfer fee of approximately €10 million. As part of the deal, Mönchengladbach is expected to include a 15 percent sell-on clause for the 29-year-old player.

Elvedi has already agreed to personal terms with Leeds, signing a contract that runs until 2029, and is eager to join the English club. The completion of the transfer, however, is dependent on another deal involving the two clubs: Leeds defender Sebastiaan Bornauw is currently in discussions regarding a move to Hamburg. Konoplya was intended to replace American right-back Joe Scally, and David Herold was acquired from Hannover to upgrade the left-back position occupied by Lukas Ullrich.

The anticipated departure of Elvedi will create another defensive vacancy that needs to be addressed before the transfer deadline. From Leeds' perspective, the Swiss international offers an experienced Bundesliga defender who can immediately strengthen their squad.
