Motonautica, grande show al Waterfestival: da Viverone all'Emilia un agosto di emozioni
Italian powerboating continues its thrilling season even through the hottest month of the year. In August, some of the best Italian racers on the Circuit are and will be competing in Italy and Poland across three of the most significant and prestigious World, European, and Italian Championship events. The action kicked off last weekend with the twelfth edition of the “Viverone Waterfestival,” an event organized by ASD Rainbow Team Association, under the patronage of the Piedmont Region and Piemonte Sport. This spectacular event delivered an adrenaline-fueled show for the public with all race heats for the three Circuit categories: F4, F2, and Formula Junior Elite.
RESULTS
The F2 European Championship was a single-stage event, dominated by Sweden's Hilmer Wiberg. Among the Italian competitors, Tullio Maria Abbate secured tenth place, followed by Luca Fornasarig in thirteenth. The Italian team RPM, with Alessandro Canzi supporting French driver Peter Morin in hull number 111, was also present. The second round of the F4 World Championship, which did not have any Italian participants, was won by Adam Wrenkler. In the opening round of the Formula Junior Elite Italian Championship, Alberto Canzian (from Rimini, M.S. Projet Aquabike) and Gaia Genova (from Naples, Rainbow Team Association) finished with equal points after two heats. However, Canzian took the victory, having recorded the fastest lap. Linda Apollinari claimed the third spot on the podium. The second and final round of the Italian Championship will take place in Otranto (Lecce) from September 12th to 13th, 2026.
BREATHLESS MOMENTS
Following the Waterfestival, the Inshore Powerboating events continue in Rogozno, Poland, from August 22nd to 23rd. Here, eight Italian drivers, accompanied by Giuseppe Rossi, will compete in the European Championships for the F250 and F125 categories. Both are single-stage events, making them decisive for the 2026 continental titles. The F250 European Championship will feature Massimiliano Cremona (the 2025 European champion and reigning world champion) and Pasquale Contento. Among the prominent contenders in F250 is the multiple-champion Alessandro Cremona from Piacenza, Massimiliano’s older brother, who will race on the Polish lake waters under an American license. In the F125 European Championship, representing Italy will be Luca Finotti, Gabriele Rossi, Daniele Ghiraldi, Nicolò Darai, Simona Fittavolini, and Davide Scarpa.
GRAND FINALE
August will conclude with another highly anticipated event of the season: from the 28th to the 30th, the Grand Prix of San Nazzaro d'Ongina, in the province of Piacenza, will be held. This event, organized by AMD San Nazzaro under the patronage of the Emilia-Romagna Region – Sport Valley, will see F2 World Championship drivers and OSY/400 European Championship competitors (including Italian racer Francesco Simone Troglio) race on the waters of the Po River.
