Motonautica Thrills at Waterfestival: Adrenaline Doesn't Take a Holiday in Viverone
Italian powerboating continues its high-octane pace even through the hottest month of the year. In August, some of the nation's top circuit racers are competing in Italy and Poland across three significant World, European, and Italian Championship events. The action kicked off last weekend with the twelfth edition of the "Viverone Waterfestival." This event, organized by Asd Rainbow Team Association with the patronage of the Piedmont Region and Piemonte Sport, delivered a dose of pure adrenaline with races for all three circuit categories: F4, F2, and Formula Junior Elite.
Race Results
The F2 European Championship, held as a single event, was dominated by Sweden's Hilmer Wiberg. Among the Italian competitors, Tullio Maria Abbate secured a tenth-place finish, followed by Luca Fornasarig in thirteenth. The Italian RPM team, with Alessandro Canzi supporting French driver Peter Morin in hull number 111, also participated. The second round of the F4 World Championship, which had no Italian entries, was won by Adam Wrenkler. In the opening round of the Italian Formula Junior Elite Championship, Alberto Canzian (from Rimini, racing for M.S. Projet Aquabike) and Gaia Genova (from Naples, racing for Rainbow Team Association) ended with equal points after two heats. However, Canzian claimed the victory due to a faster lap time. Linda Apollinari secured third place on the podium. The second and final round of the Italian Championship is scheduled for September 12-13, 2026, in Otranto (Lecce).
Breathtaking Spectacle
Following the Waterfestival, the Inshore Motonautica events will continue in Rogozno, Poland, from August 22nd to 23rd. Eight Italian drivers, accompanied by Giuseppe Rossi, will compete in the F250 and F125 European Championships. Both are single-event races, making them crucial for clinching the 2026 continental titles. The F250 European Championship will feature Massimiliano Cremona (the 2025 European champion and current world champion) and Pasquale Contento. Among the F250 frontrunners will also be the highly decorated Piacenza-based driver Alessandro Cremona, Massimiliano's older brother, who will race on the Polish lake under an American license. In the F125 European Championship, Italy will be represented by Luca Finotti, Gabriele Rossi, Daniele Ghiraldi, Nicolò Darai, Simona Fittavolini, and Davide Scarpa.
Grand Finale
August will conclude with another highly anticipated event of the racing season: the Grand Prix of San Nazzaro d’Ongina, in the province of Piacenza, from the 28th to the 30th. This event, organized by AMD San Nazzaro with the patronage of the Emilia-Romagna Region – Sport Valley, will see F2 World Championship drivers and OSY/400 European Championship drivers (including Italian Francesco Simone Troglio) compete on the waters of the Po River.
