Nadiem Amiri has put an end to speculation about his future, definitively stating he will stay with Mainz 05 for the 2026/27 Bundesliga season. The 29-year-old midfielder had recently drawn media attention and some criticism from club supporters for his initial reluctance to fully commit to the Rheinhessen ahead of the upcoming campaign.

The German international made his announcement on Saturday evening during a fan event at Mainz's training camp in Kirchbichl, Austria. Amiri's declaration dispelled all reports suggesting he was contemplating a move to RB Leipzig.

Amiri's Pledge to the Mainz 05 Faithful

"I received numerous offers, but my family and I decided that I will absolutely remain here," Amiri told the Mainz supporters, who responded with enthusiastic applause.

Amiri's current contract with Mainz extends until the summer of 2028. Since joining from Leverkusen in January 2024, the midfielder has become a crucial player for the club and has also established himself as a senior German international.

His commitment is a major positive for head coach Urs Fischer as the new season approaches. Mainz will retain a key creative force, an experienced leader, and one of the squad's most impactful midfielders.
