VfB Stuttgart Finalizes Dzenan Pejcinovic Transfer

VfB Stuttgart has successfully completed the signing of Germany U21 striker Dzenan Pejcinovic from VfL Wolfsburg. This move comes after a period of challenging negotiations between the two Bundesliga clubs. Both Stuttgart and the recently relegated Wolfsburg confirmed the transfer on Monday.

The 21-year-old forward has committed to a long-term contract with Stuttgart, running until June 2031. Reports suggest that Stuttgart will pay approximately €25 million for his services, bringing an end to one of the summer's more drawn-out transfer sagas in the Bundesliga.

Previous reports indicated that Stuttgart and Wolfsburg had finally reached an agreement, following several rejected offers from VfB. Initially, Stuttgart's offer of around €18 million was unsuccessful, prompting an increase to approximately €22 million. A subsequent third offer, which included nearly €23.5 million in guaranteed payments and bonuses that could push the total package over €25 million, also failed to meet Wolfsburg's valuation.

Despite interest from other clubs, Pejčinović remained resolute in his desire to join Stuttgart.

Dzenan Pejcinovic Enhances Stuttgart's Striker Depth

The Munich-born striker now joins a competitive attacking lineup that already features German internationals Ermedin Demirovic and Deniz Undav. Stuttgart requires significant depth for the upcoming season, which will include commitments in the Bundesliga, Champions League, and DFB-Pokal. Pejcinovic provides both an immediate option and a player with considerable long-term development potential.

Standing at 1.90 meters, the striker scored 12 goals in all competitions for Wolfsburg last season, with eight of those coming in 30 Bundesliga appearances. Wolfsburg originally acquired Pejcinović from Augsburg in 2022, after he had previously been part of Bayern Munich's academy. His development over the past two seasons has now allowed Wolfsburg to secure a substantial fee for a player who initially struggled to secure regular Bundesliga minutes.

Pejcinovic Aims for Senior Germany Call-up with Stuttgart Move

This transfer could also have implications at the international level. Pejcinovic has represented Germany at various youth levels, starting from the U16s, and has an impressive record of 41 goals in 49 youth international appearances. His immediate goal is to push for a place in the senior national team under coach Jürgen Klopp.

Statements Regarding Pejcinovic's Transfer

"We made the internal decision very early on that we wanted to sign Dzenan Pejcinovic," stated Fabian Wohlgemuth, VfB Stuttgart's Board Member for Sport. "We are convinced of his footballing abilities. He immediately provides us with a valuable option in attack while still possessing significant development potential. It is also a great signal that a player who was highly sought-after on the market chose to join us."

"I can hardly wait to get started at VfB. I am extremely excited," said Pejčinović. "I already know some of the players from the German youth national teams. After the discussions with the club officials, I didn't have to think for long when the opportunity to join Stuttgart arose."
