VfB Stuttgart Secures Permanent Signing of Bilal El Khannouss
VfB Stuttgart has officially confirmed the permanent acquisition of Bilal El Khannouss, with sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth announcing that all conditions for the transfer have been met. The Bundesliga club had an €18 million buy option included in their loan agreement with Leicester, in addition to the €3.5 million loan fee paid last summer to bring the Moroccan midfielder to Germany.
Wohlgemuth expressed his satisfaction, stating, "Yes, that’s correct. I can confirm that. All the conditions have now been met. We are delighted that we have secured Bilal’s permanent commitment to VfB Stuttgart.”
Following this permanent move, El Khannouss is set to sign a long-term contract with Stuttgart, extending until 2030. The new agreement reportedly does not include a release clause.
Stuttgart's Season and El Khannouss's Form
Prior to his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations, El Khannouss was a standout performer for Sebastian Hoeneß's side, contributing significantly with eight goals and six assists. However, since his return, he has reportedly struggled to regain his earlier impressive form, even as teammates like Deniz Undav and Jamie Leweling have hit their stride.
