While the Italian was undeniably the strong favorite, Joao Fonseca's narrow 7-6, 7-6 defeat to Sinner had heightened curiosity about how Tien would perform. Yet, after barely an hour on court, Tien found himself heading for the exit, his quarterfinal journey concluding with just three games won.

In contrast, facing Sinner, Tien appeared somewhat out of his element. It was always going to be an immense challenge.
