Sweden has secured the title in the 2025 Men`s CEV European Silver League, successfully fending off a determined comeback attempt from Hungary in the final match.
The contest began with Sweden quickly establishing dominance, effortlessly claiming the first set with a score of 25-17. Their blocking proved particularly effective during this phase, recording five kill blocks that set a strong tone for their opening performance.
However, Hungary responded with notable tenacity. They rallied back to win the second and third sets consecutively. This marked a significant achievement for Hungary, as they became the first team in the competition to take two sets in a row against Sweden, showcasing impressive resilience throughout the match.
Despite the shift in momentum favouring Hungary, Sweden managed to regain their composure and rhythm in the fourth set, ultimately clinching the match and the championship title. This victory is momentous for Sweden, as it not only earns them the trophy but also guarantees them automatic qualification for the 2026 CEV Golden League.
For Hungary, this final appearance was their second in the Silver League in the last three years. Although they were unable to secure the championship this time, their strong performance and fighting spirit were once again a highlight of the tournament.
Sweden`s Viktor Lindberg was recognized for his exceptional play and awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the match, having contributed a stellar 17 points.
