Thomas du Toit, the renowned South African rugby player and a key member of the 2019 World Cup-winning team, has made a definitive decision to return to his home country.
The 30-year-old prop, whose current contract with English Premiership club Bath is set to expire this summer, turned down an offer to extend his tenure. Furthermore, du Toit also declined an attractive proposal from French Top 14 side Bordeaux. His choice was to sign with the South African team, the Sharks, based in Durban. Du Toit openly stated that his primary motivation for this move is his desire for his children to grow up in South Africa. It`s a return to familiar territory for him, as he previously played for the Durban-based club from 2014 to 2023.
Throughout his career, Thomas du Toit has earned 30 caps for the formidable national team, the Springboks, contributing significantly to their triumph in the 2019 Rugby World Cup and their victory in the Rugby Championship in 2025.
