In the Bulgarian city of Burgas, France showcased exceptional form, concluding the week with three commanding straight-set wins and just a single narrow five-set defeat against Japan. The current Olympic champions are actively vying for a playoff position, having achieved a 5-3 record across their eight matches.
Bulgaria, playing on home soil, delighted their supporters with notable victories over Japan and Slovenia. However, their week was marred by inconsistency, as defeats to Turkey and Ukraine hindered their progression towards a playoff berth, leaving them with an even 4-4 win-loss record.

The competition in Chicago proved equally compelling. Italy and Brazil emerged as the standout teams in their respective pool. Italy began their week with a thrilling five-set triumph over Poland and concluded by decisively beating the host nation, USA. Yet, they faced a grueling five-set loss to Brazil, a match where the South American squad asserted control and subsequently surpassed Italy in the overall standings.
Indeed, Brazil enjoyed an flawless week, securing victories against Canada and China in their initial matches, followed by an exhilarating 3-1 win over Poland in their final encounter. This stellar performance ensured they maintained a superior record compared to their two main competitors for the top rank, Italy and Poland.
Current European champions Poland experienced their initial two defeats, a 2-3 loss to Italy and a 1-3 loss to Brazil. These setbacks came against their primary challengers ahead of the knockout stage in Lodz, where they will undoubtedly strive for improved results.
In Belgrade, Serbia, the home team suffered multiple defeats against Iran, Cuba, Argentina, and Germany. The Netherlands also endured four losses, significantly impacting their prospects for advancing in the tournament.
The concluding week of the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Nations League pool stage is scheduled for Gdańsk (Poland), Ljubljana (Slovenia), and Chiba (Japan). Seven playoff berths are still up for grabs, with Poland having already secured their qualification for the knockout rounds in Lodz.
