Eda Erdem Dündar, a remarkably talented and legendary middle blocker, proudly captains both Fenerbahçe Opet Istanbul and the Turkish national team. However, her significance in Türkiye transcends these accolades. On International Women`s Day, March 8th, a special ceremony was held to unveil her sculpture, bringing together prominent figures from her club and the national volleyball federation.

Eda Erdem Dündar, an inspiration for young girls and successful women alike, delivered a deeply moving speech, expressing her profound gratitude.
“This statue is not just for me, but for all Turkish women, for all our athletes, and for all those who strive for their dreams. I am incredibly honored and grateful for this immense recognition.”
— Eda Erdem Dündar, Captain of Türkiye & Fenerbahçe

Mehmet Akif Üstündağ, President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation, also spoke at the event, acknowledging Eda Erdem`s distinguished career.
“Eda Erdem Dündar is a shining example of dedication and excellence in Turkish volleyball. Her career achievements are an inspiration to us all.”
— Mehmet Akif Üstündağ, President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation
The monument, crafted by Pınar Oktem Doğan, was inspired by an iconic photograph of Eda Erdem taken during her 2019 CEV EuroVolley match against Croatia.
