The VakifBank Sports Club officially inaugurated its 2025/2026 season with a special event. Key figures in attendance included Club President Abdi Serdar Üstünsalih, members of the Board of Directors, General Manager Banu Can Schürmann, Head Coach Giovanni Guidetti, as well as all the players and staff members.
VakifBank, the reigning champions of the Sultans League, celebrated their season launch at the VakifBank Spor Sarayı. During the ceremony, Club President Abdi Serdar Üstünsalih addressed the attendees, stating: “We are embarking on this new season with a reinvigorated and strengthened squad. In terms of both coaching and player talent, we possess one of the world’s elite teams. We anticipate yet another season brimming with intense competition and thrilling moments. Many of our athletes showcased outstanding performances for their national teams over the summer. I extend my sincere congratulations to all our coaches and players, especially those representing Türkiye, who achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the second-best team globally.”
Üstünsalih: “We are contenders for all trophies”
Üstünsalih further articulated the club`s aspirations: “Our 17-player roster proudly features seven athletes who have risen through our club’s own youth academy. This exceptional proportion is unparalleled among teams vying for top positions in both the league and European competitions, a fact that fills us with great pride. This season, our objective is to challenge for the trophy in all four competitions we enter. We possess the quality required to accomplish these goals. Our first opportunity for silverware will be the Super Cup on October 8 in Ankara, where we will face Fenerbahçe. This match, as always, promises to be an exciting spectacle. We have unwavering faith in our team and are confident in securing the cup. We also wish success to our opponents and to all participating teams this season.”
