The Australian national rugby team, widely known as the Wallabies, has officially announced a significant addition to its coaching staff.
John Ulugia, a native of New Zealand, is set to join the team, bringing a wealth of experience both as a player and a coach.
Ulugia enjoyed a distinguished playing career, representing prominent clubs such as the Brumbies and Waratahs in Australia, as well as European giants Clermont and Bayonne. His achievements include winning the prestigious French Championship in 2017 and lifting the Challenge Cup in 2019. Following his successful tenure as a player, Ulugia transitioned seamlessly into coaching, initially joining the coaching setup of the Brumbies.
“John is a highly motivated young coach, and his appointment for the final tour of the year is an excellent opportunity for him to continue developing his skills and gaining experience at the highest level. The Brumbies have been incredibly supportive of John, and we are grateful to them for releasing him to the Wallabies,” commented Peter Horne, Director of Rugby Australia, highlighting the positive outlook on Ulugia`s inclusion.
The Wallabies face a challenging schedule in their upcoming autumn test matches. They are slated to play against Japan on October 18 and 25, followed by matches against England on November 1, Italy on November 8, Ireland on November 15, and finally, France on November 22.
