During the highly successful Slovenian national Snow Volleyball championships held recently at Krvavec, the VBO Premium Toothbrush CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ was also promoted. Children who volunteered as ball keepers and scorers during the event were given their first chance to try Snow Volleyball. They quickly discovered that moving on the snowy surface is considerably more challenging than playing indoors. They also noticed that the specific ball used for Snow Volleyball differs significantly from the one they are used to in their U-13 indoor training and matches, highlighting that the sport requires a distinct set of skills.
Boys and girls from Volleyball clubs OD Vital Ljubljana, OK Črnuče, and OK Kamnik participated enthusiastically throughout the day. They interacted with the athletes, learned from them, and most importantly, enjoyed exploring this relatively new volleyball discipline.
12-year-old Gana, a Volleyball player from Ljubljana, shared her positive experience: “I had a great time at Krvavec. I especially enjoyed spending the day outdoors in nature, on the snow, while still being close to Volleyball, which I absolutely love playing. It was a lot of fun; I felt I used my free time productively and learned many new things. I hope I can come back next year.”
Her peer Teodor, also from the capital city, was equally thrilled after spending the entire day at the renowned Slovenian ski resort:
The Volleyball Federation of Slovenia (OZS) intends to continue hosting national championship events at RTC Krvavec. They also plan to revive the ‘Kids Day’ event, which was previously held on the snow, allowing children to become familiar with Snow Volleyball the day before the main competition commences.
