Preview Youngsters Embrace Snow Volleyball at Krvavec

At the recent, highly successful Slovenian national Snow Volleyball championships held this past Sunday at Krvavec, the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ introduced children to the sport. Young volunteers, who served as ball keepers and scorers to assist in the competition, had the exciting opportunity to try playing Snow Volleyball for the very first time. They quickly discovered that moving on the snowy surface was significantly more challenging than what they had experienced when playing indoors. Furthermore, they noted that the ball specifically designed for Snow Volleyball differed quite a lot from the one they were accustomed to in their U-13 indoor practices and competitions, highlighting that Snow Volleyball demands a unique set of skills.

`Youngsters

Boys and girls from Volleyball clubs OD Vital Ljubljana, OK Črnuče, and OK Kamnik enthusiastically participated throughout the day. They spent their time interacting with the players, learning valuable insights from them, and, above all, thoroughly enjoying the discovery of this youngest volleyball discipline.

“I really enjoyed myself at Krvavec, especially because I spent the day in nature, on the snow, and had contact with Volleyball, which I really love playing. I had a lot of fun, made good use of my free time, and learned a lot of new things. I hope I can come again next year.”

Her peer, Teodor, who also hails from Slovenia’s capital, was equally thrilled after spending the entire day at the famous Slovenian ski resort.

The Volleyball Federation of Slovenia (OZS) plans to continue organizing national championship events at RTC Krvavec. They intend to revive the ‘Kids Day’ format, previously run on the snowy surface, to allow children to familiarize themselves with Snow Volleyball a day before the start of the actual competition, further fostering engagement with the sport.
