Preview Jamal Musiala Rejects Oliver Kahn’s Injury Rehab Advice: “I Want to Go to the World Cup!”

Following Bayern Munich’s significant Bundesliga achievement on Saturday evening, Jamal Musiala directly addressed the suggestion from former Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn regarding skipping the World Cup to focus on injury rehabilitation. Kahn had advised Musiala, who recently returned from a serious injury sustained during last summer’s Club World Cup, to take more time to recover.

Musiala, having only recently rejoined the team, was notably absent from Julian Nagelsmann’s squad for the March international break. The pressure on the now 23-year-old has intensified, especially with his 18-year-old teammate Lennart Karl delivering exceptional performances during Musiala’s absence. While Kahn’s comments may have been intended constructively, they have drawn considerable criticism in the German press towards the legendary goalkeeper.

Kahn’s Recommendation to Jamal Musiala

“I believe he should forgo going to the World Cup,” Kahn stated. “If I feel that something isn’t right in my game, then I have to work on myself to be ready again. Jamal, like everyone else, has to be at 100 percent if he wants to play.”

Musiala’s Response to Kahn

“I am getting back into the action better,” Musiala commented after scoring his fourth goal in 14 appearances since his return in late January. “Every minute where I can regain the feeling in my feet and legs benefits me.”

“I haven’t read what he [Kahn] said,” Musiala continued. “In any case, I want to go to the World Cup.”
