Beck named as Wales Six Nations attack coach
Wales has officially appointed Ash Salvin as the new attack coach for their Women's Six Nations campaign. Head coach Sean Lynn expressed his strong approval of the selection, highlighting Salvin's significant experience within women's rugby and his ability to connect effectively with players.
Lynn lauded Salvin's tactical insight, stating, "We've frequently engaged in discussions about rugby, and I've been genuinely impressed by his strategic approach to the game during his tenure coaching the young Brython Thunder team in the Celtic Challenge." He further added, "Ash is brimming with innovative offensive strategies, and I am particularly keen to see the positive influence he will bring to both our coaching staff and the wider squad."
For the duration of the Six Nations tournament, Salvin will take a leave of absence from his current responsibilities at Sandy Park. He steps into the role previously held by Mike Hill, who, according to the union, has opted to move on. Salvin's notable career includes being an integral part of the coaching team that guided the Chiefs to consecutive Premiership Women's Rugby (PWR) finals in 2022 and 2023.
Commenting on his new international opportunity, Salvin remarked, "The chance to work at an international level with Wales, especially within the Women's Six Nations, was an offer that was simply too compelling to decline." He also conveyed his high regard for Head Coach Lynn, observing, "Sean is a coach I've had the privilege of coaching against in the PWR, and all coaches deeply respect what he established at Gloucester-Hartpury and the success he achieved in developing a high-performing team."
