Full-back Santiago Carreras's stunning try was the standout moment in Bath's 33-17 bonus-point win over Harlequins on the opening night of the season.

The Argentina international intercepted a pass from Tyrone Green with his boot. He kicked the ball ahead, caught it one-handed before it went out of play, and accelerated to score under the posts – a moment of pure magic.

Bath secured a commanding 28-10 lead by halftime with first-half tries from Dan du Preez, Joe Cokanasiga, and Dan Frost. Harlequins responded with tries from Will Porter and Chandler Cunningham-South.

Pedro Delgado narrowed the deficit to 11 points early in the second half. However, Ewan Richards' late try sealed the win for Bath, marking a strong start to the new season.

Both teams aimed to rebound from disappointing finishes to the previous campaign. Harlequins ended ninth, while Bath's title defense faltered with a home play-off defeat to Exeter Chiefs.

Bath opened the scoring in the 12th minute. After Harlequins disrupted an initial line-out drive, number eight Dan du Preez powered over for the first try.

Harlequins quickly replied. Scrum-half Will Porter capitalized on a loose ball near the line-out and ran in for a try.

Winger Joe Cokanasiga extended Bath's lead after breaking through a wide gap in the Harlequins defense. Finn Russell's conversion made it 14-5.

Harlequins responded again. Oscar Beard won an aerial contest from a cross-field kick, passing to debutant fly-half Connor Slevin. Slevin then passed inside to Chandler Cunningham-South, who scored.

Carreras then scored his contender for try of the season. Positioned inside his own 22, he intercepted Tyrone Green's pass with a deft kick and gather.

Bath's pack proved dominant, adding a fourth try just before halftime through hooker Dan Frost. Russell's conversion gave Bath a 28-10 advantage at the break.

Delgado scored from close range, with Slevin converting. Harlequins faced a setback when replacement hooker Sam Riley received a yellow card for a high tackle.

Bath added a fifth try after 71 minutes from a maul, with replacement second row Ewan Richards scoring.
